SCAM ALERT - Hot summer months are when scammers ramp up their calls and house visits, and today we're receiving reports of phone scam tactics being attempted with GUC customers. As is usually the case, scammers are spoofing our phone number so that it appears as though the call is coming from GUC. When they leave voicemails, they do ask that the call be returned to a number that is NOT a GUC number. Don't let them fool you! GUC will never ask customers who have delinquent accounts to pay immediately “or else.” Customers with delinquent accounts will receive notices in the mail well in advance – never just a single notification one hour before disconnection. Reminder that our temporary switch to chlorine began June 15th and runs until July 27th. During this time, GUC temporarily changes the disinfectant used in the water treatment process. The Water Treatment Plant will be using chlorine rather than chloramines during this time. This brief, scheduled change in disinfectant is a standard water treatment practice to keep water mains clean and free of potentially harmful bacteria throughout the year.
