Join us in thanking our Utility Locators for their work with damage prevention during Locator Safety & Appreciation Week! Our Locators provide an essential service to our customers and to our operating departments. When a contractor or customer is planning any kind of excavation or digging work, they call NC 811 to request that all underground lines be marked. Our GUC Locators use different types of equipment and methods to find each underground facility, depending on the type of facility to be located. It's a record year for the Women of First Presbyterian in raising funds for the Neighbor to Neighbor program! This is the 24th year they have supported the program. In most years, they raised $8-10,000. This year, they raised $15,000! Our Neighbor to Neighbor program is a partnership between GUC and the Pitt County, NC Department of Social Services that meets local needs by providing funds to assist low-income families in Pitt County with their heating bills. WATER REMINDER >>> GUC will begin “Operation Spring Clean” late this evening, 4/12. This is our preventive maintenance program to ensure that customers continue to receive high quality water. 📅 When? April 12-June 5 📍 Where? Half our service area (see link below) The program involves opening fire hydrants and allowing them to flow freely for a short time. Our water system is large enough that now this program is 8 weeks long (instead of 13) and cleans half of our water distribution lines, with the second half of the system getting cleaned out next year.
