WATER CUSTOMERS >>> GUC will soon begin “Operation Spring Clean,” our preventive maintenance program to ensure that customers continue to receive high quality water. 📅 When? April 12-June 5 📍 Where? Half our service area (see link below) The program involves opening fire hydrants and allowing them to flow freely for a short time. Our water system is large enough that now this program is 8 weeks long (instead of 13) and cleans half of our water distribution lines, with the second half of the system getting cleaned out next year. Our Gas Department recently kicked off its annual round of gas safety education with members of the Winterville Community Fire Department. Training emergency officials is part of GUC’s Public Pipeline Awareness Plan, which is a federal requirement. Members of the Gas Department conduct this free training for any fire department in our service area.
