For the fifth year in a row, Greenville Utilities is helping provide relief from the upcoming winter’s cold for some local residents by donating 150 blankets to the Pitt County Council on Aging.
"We've had a few chilly days and cold nights this fall, but more consistent winter temperatures are just around the corner,” said Scott Mullis, Director of Customer Relations of Greenville Utilities. “We always suggest to our customers to set their heat to the lowest comfortable temperature possible to save on home energy costs during the winter months, and blankets are an economical way to get some relief from any chill in the air and lower that thermostat even more. We know inflation is hitting people hard so we increased the number of blankets again this year and are pleased to provide them as a gesture of community support."
GUC Energy Services employees delivered the blankets to the Pitt County Council on Aging at their annual holiday celebration on Thursday, December 7, at the Council on Aging office. Anyone interested in receiving a blanket should contact the Council on Aging at 252-752-1717.
